Phone Atlas

Your people, on a map, on your phone.

Phone Atlas shows the friends and family you already have in Contacts, grouped by where they live, with their local time. Free. No account. Your contacts never leave your iPhone.

Your contacts stay on your phone.

  • No account. Open it and it works.
  • No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
  • The internet is used only for public data about places, like weather and exchange rates. Names, numbers and notes are never sent.

Read exactly what it does

What it does

Who is awake

See everyone's local time at a glance. Slide to a time in the next day and a half and see who is awake, at work or on their weekend, so you know the best time to call.

Where your people are

A map of the countries and cities your people live in, with their local time and the night side shaded.

Fly Me

Pick a city or a country and the whole app is about that place until you exit: your people there first, its time, weather, exchange rates, news, public holidays and travel advice. Save a trip with dates and get one reminder before you go.

Clean numbers

Numbers saved without a country code, like 0412 345 678, are read into full international form, and you see why. Duplicate people can be merged after a side-by-side preview, and every merge can be undone.

Today

A few people worth a message today, never a backlog: friends you have not spoken to in a while, birthdays coming up and your reminders, with a note when it is a good time to call.

Events and money

Track events and the replies you get. Keep a record of who owes whom in any currency, with one balance per friend. Set your own fixed rates for a group, like a trip, and settle in one currency. It never moves money.

Backups you own

Export a full backup, your people as contacts (.vcf) or a spreadsheet (.csv), and save it wherever you like. Restore it on a new iPhone.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads.

Do I need an account?

No.

Does it upload my contacts?

No. Your contacts, notes and balances are stored on your iPhone. The privacy policy lists the few public data services the app calls and what each one receives.

Why does it ask for Contacts access?

To show the people you already know. You can share only some contacts (iOS limited access) and it works with those.

Will it change my contacts?

Only when you ask. New people you add go into iPhone Contacts unless you switch that off on the add screen. Clean up does not change iPhone Contacts: number fixes and merges are saved in Phone Atlas, and merges can be undone from Clean up.

What if a data source is down?

The app says "unavailable". It never makes numbers up.

Android?

Not at the moment. Phone Atlas is for iPhone.

How do I back up?

Export a backup file from the app and save it to Files, a drive or email. The file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere private. Automatic iCloud backup is not available yet.
